CPR Training

The American Heart Association maintains a training center through a partnership with the University at Buffalo, Recreation Services Department located at Clark Hall, South Campus.

CPR, AED and First Aid Training is available to the UB community and the general public.

 

o   Training classes will be held on select days in the CPR room at Clark Hall, South Campus.

o   Times for these courses will vary from week to week please make sure you are looking at the date and time of the course that you have registered for to avoid confusion. 

o   Parking passes are required during business hours, upon your arrival the instructor will provide you with a temporary parking pass to hang from your vehicles rear view mirror.

o   Classes may be cancelled due to low enrollment. You MUST register for the course prior to your arrival. We will NOT accept walk-ins at this time.

Basic Life Support (BLS)

o   Training classes will be held in the CPR room at Clark Hall, South Campus.

For healthcare providers such as, but not limited to, day care providers, coaches, EMS personnel, physician assistants, doctors, dentists, pharmacists, physical therapists, respiratory therapists, nurses, lifeguards and students in exercise science, nursing, medical school or pharmacy school who must have a credential (card) documenting successful completion of a CPR course. The BLS Course covers core material such as adult and pediatric CPR (including two-rescuer scenarios and use of the bag mask), foreign body airway obstruction, and automated external defibrillation.

Heartsaver CPR/AED (adult)

o   Times for these courses are scheduled as needed. Please make sure you are looking at the date and time of the course that you have registered for to avoid confusion.

o   Parking passes are required during business hours, upon your arrival the instructor will provide you with a temporary parking pass to hang from your vehicle's rear view mirror.

o   You MUST register for the course prior to your arrival. We will NOT accept walk-ins at this time.


This course is for those who have a duty to respond to a cardiac emergency because of job responsibilities or regulatory requirements and for the general community interested in learning CPR.


The Heartsaver First Aid with CPR and AED course teaches how to manage illness and injuries in the first few minutes until professional help arrives. CPR for Adults includes CPR and First Aid for Choking, Signs of Heart Attack and Stroke, use of Barrier Devices and use of AED; plus First Aid Skills.


Course content includes General Principles, Medical Emergencies, and Injury Emergencies, CPR & AED and an optional Environmental Emergencies.

First Aid Only

  • Training classes will be held on select days in the CPR room at Clark Hall, South Campus.

  • Times for these courses will vary, please make sure you are looking at the date and time of the course that you have registered for to avoid confusion.

    • Please be on time! The First Aid course begins at the conclusion of the BLS for Healthcare Providers course. Please note that the start time may shift based on when the class before concludes. Please do not enter the classroom until the instructor opens the door.

      • The building door will be propped open 15 minutes prior to the start of the class. The door will close 10 minutes after the start time. If you are more than 10 minutes late you will not be able to participate in the course.

      • Parking passes are required during business hours, upon your arrival the instructor will provide you with a temporary parking pass to hang from your vehicles rear view mirror.
